Chartreuse is an herbal french liquer that has been made, traditionally by monks, since as early as 1737. To make Chartreuse a distilate is aged with around 130 different herbs, plants and flowers. It was once refered to as "the elixir of life", toting medicinal properties. The original recipe for the liquer had been passed down through many generations of monks and even saw the inside of a couple of jail cells as the monks were expelled from their homes in France. Throughout the years chartreuse has been produced by other companies but has always found it's way back to the Carthusian brothers. To this day two monks oversee the production at the Monastery of the Grande Chartreuse in Southeast France.
V.E.P. GREEN CHARTREUSE. (Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolongé) is made using the same processes and the same secret formula as the traditional liqueur, and by extra long aging in oak casks it reaches an exceptional quality.
