Tasting Notes:  This whiskey is sublime. There certainly a significant amount of peat smoke but it is not just a one-note wonder.  The nose is so complex and the peat so well-digsted by the rich whiskey as to render it sublime. This 10 year peated  bottling received a Chairman's Trophy at the 2021 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. With 98 points it was ranked the 10th best spirit of any kind among the thousands judged in that weeks long endeavor.

Glenturret: Glenturret is one of several distilleries that claim to be the oldest in Scotland. Well, it's probably not...and who cares?  What we do know is that it is a storied and traditional distillery that has always made excellent juice.

In 2019, Silvio Denz bought the distillery and added it to his Lalique Group of Companies. That's the French luxury lifestyle company (think perfume, glass, crystal). M. Denz also owns Château Faugères in St-Emilion and Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey in Sauternes, so he's a beverage guy. In 2020, he brought on Bob Dalgarno as Master Blender. Previously Bob spent 30 years at The Macallan.

Along with the distillery, Denz & Dalgado inherited a vast inventory of different whiskey gracefully aging in different type barrels at different strengths. Everything points to a significant increase in quality and it's been borne out in the 2021 releases in new Lalique designed glass bottles. This is the very beginning of an exciting journey.
