I don't know of a single vineyard planted the way Stephen Hagan plants and tends Antiquum. It shows in the wines. They're extraordinary.
First off, they use horses to do 90% of the work in the vineyard. That leaves the soil remarkably uncompacted and full of life. The rotating cover crop is managed by a well-trained flock of sheep, which do a little fertilizing at the same time. Geese and chickens also play their part in the life-cycle of the vineyard. Two guard dogs keep the other animals safe and in line. No outside fertilizers or composts are used.
Winemaker Notes
Passiflora captures the most ethereal and eccentric voice of Antiquum Farm in a stunningly elegant profile. From the highest elevations of the site displaying floral and tropical tones, this wine is a Pinot Noir unlike any other.
Aromas of black tea & spice lead to a palate of earth, forest leaves and macerated berries.
