The latest from Morgan Twain-Peterson and Chris Cottrell, the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc from Uboldi Vineyard near the town of Kenwood. The wine is barrel fermented in fairly neutral 320L "cigar" barrels to increase lees contact for texture and depth.
Winemaker Notes
The 2022 Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from a trio of vineyards that shows off several different sub-areas of the greater Sonoma Valley appellation. The backbone of the wine comes from the stony, north-facing slopes of Uboldi Vineyard in Glen Ellen. Added to this is some of the lemon oil and cassis-scented Judge Vineyard in Bennett Valley, along with the more broadly textured fruit from Bedrock Vineyard’s Block 3. Completely barrel fermented in a combination of smaller barrels, 320-liter cigares, and puncheons to improve weight and texture, this only saw a small percentage of new French and Austrian Oak (Sylvain and Stockinger). This will be lovely now but should age gracefully for 5+ years depending on user preference.
