These vineyards—perched at 2,500 to 3,000 feet above sea level—are some of Sicily’s highest, with ancient alberello vines rooted in rugged soil, reaching up to greet the sun and the salt- laden winds that sweep inland from the sea. Here, the Catarratto grape ripens slowly, with just two clusters per vine, each one a pure, concentrated expression of this rare terroir.
