Couly-Dutheil - Chinon White Les Chanteaux 2021
FAMILY ESTATE SINCE 1921
Couly Dutheil is now managed by Arnaud Couly. In 2005, he wanted to change direction, insisting on working in the vineyard in order to obtain much riper grapes and fruitier wines without losing the notes of freshness. Low extractions, abandonment of wood farming, very light filtration. Tasting the different vintages of Domaine Couly Dutheil means discovering the different terroirs of the Chinon
100 % Chenin Blanc from the appellation of CHINON (famously known as rhe birthplace of Joan of Arc) in the Loire Valley region of France.
Soil - Clay-limestone plateaus and slopes facing north/east, south/west and located west of Chinon (St Louans). Our region benefits from a temperate semi-oceanic climate conducive to the cultivation of vines.
Culture - ''Reasoned cultivation'', respectful of the environment with grass cover between the rows in order to help limit yields and erosion. Leaf thinning, trellising and green harvesting to optimise the ripeness and quality of the grapes.
Winemaker Notes
Enticing aromas of ripe pear, chalk, and minerals. The flavors show the same confidence with a touch of ginger spice and honey in a supple, energetic style with stony depth.
Tasting Notes - This Chinon Blanc, nutty and with spicy apple flavors, is a rich, tangy wine with ripeness and a juicy aftertaste.
