Hermanos Mesa is a winery that produces a unique wine called Oracan, made from Listán Blanco grapes grown in their vineyard at La Degollada, situated 1,300 meters above sea level in the Los Pelados area of Valle de Güímar on the Canary Island of Tenerife. The vines, aged between 60 and 70 years, are cultivated using traditional trellis methods in soil that is volcanic and very poor.
The winemaking process involves fermenting the grapes with their skins in clay amphorae for 2 months, followed by an additional 6 months of aging on the lees in the same amphorae. In some years, a spontaneous flor veil forms during part of the aging process. The resulting wine, known as orange wine, exhibits the following characteristics:
Color: Pale orange.
Aroma: Notes of honey, orange peel, hydrocarbons, and ripe fruit.
Palate: Fresh, mineral, medium-bodied, with hints of orange peel and honey.
Oracan pairs well with a variety of dishes, including fish, seafood, and white meats. It is bottled unfiltered and unclarified, preserving its unique qualities
