OVID Napa Valley is a singular, dynamic and continuous experiment in terroir, nestled at an elevation of 1,500 feet on a secluded mountaintop in the western reaches of Pritchard Hill. Here, iron-rich volcanic soils, abundant sunshine and chaparral flora alchemize to reveal focused, long-lived wines that celebrate their source. Drawing our name from the Roman poet Ovid, whose seminal work Metamorphoses is a poetic retelling of the Greek myths, our path celebrates the themes of transformation and change. Our four estate wines are sourced from our organically farmed fifteen acre vineyard, planted in one-acre blocks with rootstock and clonal combinations of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah.amorphoses is a poetic retelling of the Greek myths, our path celebrates the themes of transformation and change.

OVID Napa Valley is our flagship wine and also our compass. In the way it embodies the tensions and intricacies of both our vineyard and philosophy, the wine guides us as much as we guide it.

Always a blend that changes subtly from year to year, OVID Napa Valley is based on Cabernet Sauvignon, which established the voice of our property while connecting it with the greater continuity of Napa Valley. Cabernet Franc, an independent and contrasting voice, provides a perfect counterpoint. Small portions of Merlot and Petit Verdot smooth edges and strengthen foundations.

The 2017 OVID Napa Valley Red Wine captures our feeling of gratitude with a rich and luxuriant expression. Brooding and broad with fresh notes of mulberry, cassis, anise, bay leaf, blackberry and licorice, this red wine will tell the tale of a most remarkable vintage for many years to come.
