Sandro Fay 2022 Valtellina Superiore Valgella

Valtellina is a tiny and rugged appellation in the northern part of Lombardy, near the Swiss border.  Known as Alpine Wine, these Nebbiolo vineyards are farmed on steep terraced south facing slopes at high elevation.  All of the farming has to be done by hand as it’s impossible to get machinery or even a horse or mule up these steep and remote slopes.  Founded in 1971 and now in its 2nd generation, this wine is classic alpine Nebbiolo; bright, aromatic, and luscious with nice grip on the finish.
