Stargazer History

Stargazer pays tribute to Abel Tasman, who as an explorer and navigator, must have spent a fair amount of time gazing towards the heavens. Tasman, a Dutchman under the employ of the United East India Company was the first European to sight Tasmania (on 24 November 1642) and then the South Island of New Zealand, nineteen days later on 13 December.

The 2021 Stargazer Tupelo is a delightful white wine from Tasmania, Australia. It’s an Alsatian-inspired blend crafted by winemaker Samantha Connew. 

Varieties: The Tupelo blend consists of Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer. These expressive varieties come together beautifully in this wine.

Tasting Notes: The wine has a pale yellow color with green flecks. On the nose, you’ll find perfumed and lifted aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, dried pear spiciness, and a hint of honeyed beeswax. The palate offers a glossy texture, with richness framed by subtle phenolics for both persistence and length.

Flavor Profile: Expect citrus notes, including lime, in this well-constructed blend. The acidity balances the natural fruit sweetness.
