Devil's Staircase Central Otago Pinot Noir (2020)
Devil’s Staircase wines are inspired by the winding road leading from Queenstown to Kingston along the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Sourced from several Central Otago vineyards, the Devil’s Staircase Pinot Noir takes the willing down into the realm of decadence and Bacchanalian delights.
From Rockburn, the 2020 vintage is enjoyable young. Made without oak, it is ruby hued and vibrantly fruity, A devilishly good, vibrant pinot noir full of youth and exuberance. Each glass is teeming with bright, juicy, redfruited flavours – a cracking example of fabulous wine frivolity, yet with some serious crunchy, chewy fruit tannins and well-integrated supple oak.
Pleasure spiced up with a bit of incorrigible. The unrelenting Central Otago environment tortures the vines whose twisted limbs produce a wine worthy of absolution; strong and sensual with ribbons of dark fruit, sinfully succulent and devilishly good. The flavours should be illegal, full of Black Doris plums, blueberries and dark cherries, and will leave you with an insatiable desire for more. Very fruity, rich and supple with long smooth finish and soft tannins.
All that and great value at this price point.
