VINEYARDS IN THE FAMILY FOR SEVERAL GENERATIONS!
Both of my grandfathers, André Crochet and Lucien Picard, were winegrowers. In fact, in the early 1950s, Lucien Picard was one of the pioneers of bottling Sancerre wines in the region to be able to sell them in Paris. My father, Lucien Crochet, merged the two estates together. He developed relationships with the finest restaurants in Paris and it was only natural for the export markets to follow. Today, my wife Laurence, who is also the daughter of a Sancerre grower, and I oversee the estate while adding our own approach and sensitivity.

Terroir
A blend of several plots of our Estate. Plots of Oxfordian limestones, locally known as
“Caillottes” and Kimmeridgian marls
The vines Pinot Noir, average age of the vines 40 years
Grape variety
Planting density from 6,800 to 8,500 vines/hectare
From grapes harvested from several parcels which include a mix of stones and marne with south-southeast exposure. After a manual harvest, the grapes are pressed and the fermentation proceeds for approximately 30 days. Sixty percent of this cuvée is aged in barrel and 40% in stainless steel for one year. The wine is then assembled and, for an additional eight months, is aged in stainless steel before being bottled approximately two years after harvest.
