Until Bruno Clavelier took over, the production was sold in barrels to traders and in particular to the Clavelier house, run at the time by the paternal branch of the family. In 1987, after a career as a rugby player, Bruno Clavelier took up the torch and decided to set up his estate after having obtained his National Diploma of Oenologist at the faculty of Dijon. In 1992, he decided to bottle the entire harvest and quite quickly, helped by his father, the estate's wines met with some success, particularly in the Anglo-Saxon and Japanese markets.
The estate's treasure is first and foremost the old family vines. Most were replanted after phylloxera, in the years 1930-1940. Some of the older vines are over 80 years old and come from mass selections. The yields are therefore naturally limited and the rooting is exceptional, thus promoting a large contact surface with the mineral elements of the subsoil. Here, the culture of the vine has always been "traditional". In a good sense, that is to say a little bit of organic fertilizer and a lot of manual work.
Plot of 22 ares made up of a 35-year-old vine for 2/3 and a small part over 70 years old.
Far from the terrestrial character that is often attributed to the vintages of this village, the estate's Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux benefits from the flow of fresh air from the Lavaux valley which brings balance, finesse and a more airy feel. The wine is always expressed with beautiful fruit and a lot of precision in the tannic structure.
